Teaching Philosophy

"A teacher affects eternity:
He can never tell where his influence stops."
Henry Adams

Despite the fact that I completed my secondary education a long time ago, I still clearly remember a few teachers from both the primary and secondary schools I attended in Germany.
In retrospect, I can say that two of them had a tremendous impact on my career decision and led me to where I am right know, undertaking a Masters of Teaching Degree at  Australian Catholic University. If you asked me to name the skills and features of those two teachers I would not be able to describe them in detail. One thing I vividly recollect, though, is the fervour with which they conveyed not only their knowledge concerning their subject matter but also their passion for educating and empowering future generations.
My prime aim as a teacher is to create a quality learning environment in which all students can reach their full potential. In order to achieve this goal I will strive to

 • create a good rapport with my students

• inspire and motivate my students and spark their love for education

• set out clear class rules as regards mutual respect and behaviour and be consistent in applying these rules

• cater for a wide range of learning types and flexibly accommodate my teaching strategies to students’ needs

• constantly create opportunities for meaningful learning

• promote critical thinking skills
